Simplot Games competitors welcome elite adidas athletes for dinner
Pocatello, Idaho ? On the night of Feb. 17, 2006 will be a special treat for Simplot Games athletes as adidas brings in two of the top track and field athletes in the country to eat dinner, share their experiences and their advice with those attending the pasta dinner event.
Matt Hemingway and Me?Lisa Barber have been chosen to attend this year?s dinner event. Both are top athletes in their respective events and have many experiences to share with the Simplot Games athletes.
Hemingway is a high jumper who had a strong showing in 2005. He won the 2005 USA Outdoor Championship and was ranked number one in the United States by Track and Field News. Not only did he win the 2005 USA title he performed well at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece by winning the silver medal in the high jump.
Hemingway graduated from Buena Vista High School in Colorado. He attended the University of Arkansas for his collegiate career.
Barber has yet to compete at the Olympic level, but is a top competitor in the 100-meter dash. Recently she switched from running relays to the individual event. At the 2005 USA Championships she placed first in the 100 to make the switch from relays even sweeter. She ran on the 2005 World Outdoor gold medal 4x100-meter relay team in Helsinki, Finland.
Barber attended Montclair High School in New Jersey. She attended the University of South Carolina for her collegiate career. She also had the support of her twin sister, Miki, who ran with her at South Carolina and on the 2001 World University Games 4x400-meter relay gold medal team
