In the major event of the day due to another example of shoddy officiating Nicole Cochran of Bellarmine ran an excellent race to win the 3200 in a time of 10:34 but was improperly DQ’d for a debatable violation that should have been called on her team mate Kayla Evans. Evans appeared to have been bumped late in the race & she stepped on the line. An official called a violation on her team mate Nicole. Check out the video at http://www.flocasts.org Park After the medal presentation Andrea Nelson of Shadle Park, who was awarded the victory, ran over to Cochran & placed the medal around her neck saying you’re the state champion. Third place finisher Sarah Lord then presented the 2nd place medal that she had been given to Nelson & then the action was repeated by the other runners. It was a noteworthy display of sportsmanship on the part of the athletes. Sadly the officials were not up to that level of class.
