Seaman favored to win at Millrose Games
Two-time Olympian and 8-time U.S. indoor champion Tim Seaman will attempt to win another U.S. 1-Mile race walk title Friday night at the 2006 Millrose Games at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
Seaman won the newly reinstated event in 6 minutes, 0.76 seconds at last year's Millrose Games, becoming the first U.S. 1-mile indoor champion since Ron Daniel captured the title in 1973. Seaman's performance was a new national championship record, eclipsing Dave Romansky's 6:13.4 set in 1972. 2004 USA Junior 10,000m walk champion Zachary Pollinger was the runner-up behind Seaman in 6:20.48, with Dave McGovern third in 6:26.88.
McGovern will challenge Seaman for the title Friday night at the Garden, along with Matt Boyles, Tim Davidson, Doug Johnson, Michael Kazmierczak, Richard Luettchau, Leo McGovern, John Souchek and Joe Trapani.
The second event of USATF's 2006 Visa Championship Series, the Millrose Games will be televised February 5 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Eastern Time on ESPN2.
