Some days I am very motivated for my 5K and some I get really nervous. I know I want to do it, but I'm afraid that I won't be able to finish it. Tips? |

Thanks for your honesty. I think all athletes feel the same as you at some points. There is a certain feeling that even elite runners usually get before races that is a nervousness mixed with dread- you are excited to get out there and race, but your body is hesitant because it knows it's going to have to hurt! However, I try to fight this feeling (even though it hurts, it's always well worth it in the end!) by focusing on the reason why I am running the race (to glorify God by doing the best with the gift He's given me) and let that excite me. For you, this 5k is a huge goal you are working towards, and symbolizes more than just finishing a 3 mile race- it is a stepping stone for you in your life. You can look back on the race throughout your life when you have other challenges and know you can get through them, because you have before. |
